Les Miserables - Novel and Music of 18th Century France

Victor Hugo was born in 1802 and grew up in a critically acclaimed French playwright, novelist and poet. His greatest works are Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and Les Miserables (Les Miserables / The Damned).

Hugo was a great supporter of republicanism, a political position that a state seen as a republic (not governed by a monarch, but by some of the people), and this is reflected in his novels, which often have their approach to justice, the right , royaltiesand social norms. Les Miserables in particular focus on the good and evil, politics and morality, with a backdrop of Parisian architecture and history of France.

Victor Hugo has led a life in poverty, to King Louis XVIII settled a pension of 1000 francs. were all three volumes of "Les Miserables" was published in 1862, although their contributions were less than complimentary, the novel was a great success.

History

Les Misérables is primarily a study ofthe human condition - like all of us are shaped by events outside of us and that we have little or no control. The characters in the novel are not much worse, were expelled from their environmental actions to be undertaken.

The book offers a fascinating insight into life in France before the Revolution, and the need to put the welfare needs of the community, and personal needs.

The plot

Eugene Francois Vidocq, a reformed criminal who has become aPolice Officer, was one of the main inspirations for the novel by Hugo, and that the two protagonists in parallel contradictory character Vidocq Les Miserables.

Les Miserables 'has several plot threads, but it is the role of' linked Jean Valjean, who is a former convict, in turn, by a bishop who teaches him the right to take the wrong people. Valjean steals again, but soon regretted his deeds. However reported to the authorities, and he is as Re-Offender wanted and that is where his flight from the lawbegins.

Valjean is a pseudonym and then make money by owning a factory, where he was the unfortunate Fantine, who lives a life of poverty and prostitution to provide for her daughter Cosette. He flees to Paris, where he grew up with Cosette, be beautiful and falls in love with a student named Marius alienated.

Marius believes that Cosette ran from Paris to Londonwith his adoptive father and joins the student revolt, only to be wounded and taken away by Valjean. Later, Valjean and Cosette and Marius marry confesses his past as a criminal. Marius is upset and takes Cosette away from him. Valjean is so upset he wants to take his life and how he is dying, he changes his mind and returned to him, Marius. Valjean then dies happily with his adopted daughter and son-in-law on his side.

The musical

Today, Les Miserables is a popularWest End Musical, nominated for twelve Tony Awards and won seven. Widely recognized, has turned the story to the stage with some of the best songwriters of our generation and deservedly took the story came back to the public.
